Report Invention

The Inventors(faculty, researchers, students, employee) must report their invention by logging in Professional Patent Management System(PPMS) to fill in the specific information about invention reporting. Please follow the manual in the PPMS.

Domestic Patent Application Support Program (Invention Evaluation)

• Upon receipt of the Invention Report, the evaluation committee, consisting of experts in various technology sectors, will evaluate the invention and establish a customized application strategy.
• If the Evaluation Committee decides to apply for a domestic patent, the application fee, costs arising during the process, registration fee,and maintenance fee(up to 4 years) will be funded by the school.

Patent Application

Once the decision to apply for a patent has been made, the Intellectual Property & Technology Transfer Center will send an official request to the designated patent firm. The patent firm will write the specification for patent application. Writing specification is very important process, as the specification confirms the scope of rights. Designated patent firm will proceed application procedure and drafting patent specifications for patent registration.

Patent Registration

The decision to grant patent is made If the examiner did not find any grounds of rejection or the applicant overcome the ground of rejection. Once the decision to grant a patent has been confirmed, registration fee for establishment of rights must be paid to secure patent rights.

Post Management

After patent registration, the school will pay for maintance fee for up to 4 years. If the patent isn't being utillized for 5 years after the registration, the corresponding patent will be abandoned or the maintenance fee must be paid by the research faculty or department to maintain the patent.
